Tomorrow we will be celebrating UAE National Day and also having a ceremony for Commemoration Day. This will be a dress down day. Students can come dressed in the UAE national colors/costume. A number of activities have been organized by our UAE parents for the students and parents. These include:
1- The Emirati welcoming stands at reception and KG entrance in drop off and pick up times. Then at reception and in Secondary playground at lunch times.
2- The “Dar AlItihad ” / Union House booth exhibit at the Elementary playground.
3- Henna station at the beduin tent beside the Union House at Elementary playground.
4- Falcon stand beside the Union House.
5- Emirati live cooking at the secondary playground.
6- UAE flag colors theme face painting at Secondary and Elementary playgrounds.
7- Open yolla dance floor for amateur dancers among our community in both Playgrounds.
At 11.30am we will have a one minute silence followed by the playing of the UAE National Anthem and flag raising ceremony.
Reminder – Tomorrow will be our last day of school this week as we celebrate National Day. Classes will resume on Sunday 06 December.
Mr Vijay Singh will be offering SAT Math prep classes for students starting after the National Day holiday. The course will cost 500dhs per student. Interested students can pay directly at accounts and show the receipt to Ms Singh. This course will be in preparation for the January SAT test. Other courses will be offered later this year. Attached is an outline of the course and dates of classes.
UAS SAT prep classes – Math
Last week our MUN team hosted a conference with over 150 students from UAS, other Dubai and Egyptian schools. The two day event was incredible and our students need to be commended on their professionalism and organisation of the event. Thank you also must go to Ms McGlone who supported the students in this event. We are very proud of all the students who participated and lead this event. Congratulations everyone!
As quarter 2 started this week, there are many important events coming up. Please take note of the following:
Wednesday 11 November – grade 10 IB parent information night in the MPH starting at 6.00pm. Ms Bellino will give an overview of the IBDP program and courses offered for next year.
Thursday 12 November – no school for students. This is a professional development day for teachers.
November 16 – 17 – these will be the high school photo days. Please support us in ensuring that your son/daughter is wearing the school polo shirt for the photos. No hoodies or variations of the uniform will be allowed for the photos.
November 22-24 – MAP testing for grades 9 and 10. Students must be at school on these days to take the MAP tests.
November 25 – This is a half day for students followed by parent-teacher conferences (1.00-6.00pm). An email will be sent to parents once the booking system is open to make appointments.
November 26 – There will be parent-teacher conferences (8.00-12.00pm)
December 1-3 – National Day holiday (no school)
December 18-January 02 – Winter vacation (classes resume on Sunday 03 December)
Undercover Assistant Principal:
The last two days Mr Sealey has been attending classes with students to get the firsthand experience of life as a student at UAS. He will be giving feedback to teachers about his experience. The students have enjoyed having him in classes as he has been asking teachers very difficult questions.
Ms Raleigh will begin the next SAT/ACT course next week. Students can sign up by paying 500dhs at accounts and registering with Ms Raleigh via email or in person. There are two options for the course in preparation for the December SAT test.
