This year, we have invested heavily into professional development for our teachers. One of our big initiatives is using Lucy Calkins writing workshop in the classroom. This model allows us to differentiate instruction based on each individual student’s needs. We have been working with educational expert, Erin Kent, on an ongoing basis all year. Thank you to all the teachers for the great work that was completed while Erin Kent was here last week. We are so fortunate to have such expertise in the building. She was very impressed by the abilities of our students and we look forward to building on the work that was done throughout the week.
We are celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week this week! Please let your teachers know how much you appreciate them! Thank you teachers, for all you do!
Dear UAS Parents,
Thank you for the many of you who returned the intent of re–enrollment form, the information provided is vital for the effective planning of the exciting year ahead. We are writing to inform you that we are now open to receive the re–enrollment fee. We would appreciate it if you could settle the amount payable to the Accounts Department no later than May 09, 2019.
To view the amount required for your child’s grade level, kindly check the attachment here.
The re–enrollment payment is credited towards the first semester tuition fees for the 2019-2020 academic year. Payment can be made online or in the accounts department by cheque, cash or credit card.
Should your plans change and you will be moving out of the Emirate of Dubai before the start of the school year, the re–enrollment fee is fully refundable.
Kindly disregard this message if you have already settled the re–enrollment fee.
Note: At the end of the academic year, if you have not paid your final installment for school fees, your re–enrollment will be adjusted against the outstanding school fees balance and the place for 2019-2020 will be withdrawn.
As we approach Ramadan, the elementary school would like to give you a few updates about what to expect during the holy month. It’s very important to us that there is two-way communication between families and homeroom teachers about personal Ramadan expectations. As a school, we want to respect the holy month and support families.
The Ramadan Schedule will go into effect Sunday, May 5th. Please notify your child’s homeroom teacher if they will participate in the fasting tradition.
- PreK – Grade 5: School hours will be from 8:30 – 1:30 each day during Ramadan.
- Children are allowed to arrive on campus at 8:00 in the morning as that is when supervision is available.
New Bus Timings
The Transportation Coordinator will send home new bus pick up and drop off times to each family this week via email. Please contact Mr. Louie Garcia if you need further information. His email is: firstname.lastname@example.org
Specials and Arabic Schedule
We will be using a modified Specials and Arabic schedule. Your child’s teacher will send a message via ClassDojo by Thursday of each week to inform you which Specials and Arabic classes your student will have the following week.
Recess and Lunch
All fasting students will remain in the building under supervision during lunch. All other students will be in the cafeteria for a typical lunch time. Fasting students will have the option to stay inside during recess times in an assigned, supervised space. This will be a quiet and reflective space where students can relax. Please notify your child’s teacher if you do not want your child to play outside. Otherwise, your child will have the option to stay inside or play outside.
Students have been instructed to to follow the protocol of not drinking water in public; the school will do its best to honor the intent of Ramadan in this matter. Students in early childhood will continue to have access to water in their classrooms. Students in grades 2-5 will keep water bottles in their cubbies and access them during short breaks throughout the day. Water bottles will be allowed outside during outdoor recess times or in assigned non-fasting rooms.
