A Culture of Excellence
It is our goal at UAS to teach students skills they can use throughout their lifetime. One important skill we teach them is how to work in collaborative groups. This type of learning is so important because it teaches students how to work with each other and learn from each other. You can learn more about this type of instruction here.
Poets and authors Michael Salinger and Sara Holbrook are visiting UAS this week. In the elementary school they will be spending time working with Grades 4 and 5. They will be starting off with a grade level assembly and following up with individualized workshops in the classrooms. The workshops focus on a specific skill so that students can then incorporate these practiced strategies into future work. Some of the workshops being conducted this week include story mapping, observational and sentence buildings skills and looking at narrative structures in poems. We are excited to welcome Michael and Sara to our school!
To ensure students are safe, all 2nd-5th grade students must be picked up on the ground floor near the playground during dismissal. Students cannot wait in their classrooms to be picked up. Thank you for making sure all of our students are safe.
