Blog for Week of January 14, 2018

Dear Parents and Families of UAS Elementary School,

What a week!  UAS had its annual KHDA Inspection and all went very well.  The Inspection Team thoroughly enjoyed their visit and in-depth look into UAS’s educational programs.  The Inspection Team’s feedback was very complimentary of our teaching staff, our curricular programs, our student progress towards academic attainment and school safety.  The most important take-away was the sense of “Community” that parents, students and staff felt exemplified UAS as indicated through interviews and surveys.  This sense of Community is key for a positive learning environment for our children!

This week will be an additional inspection week facilitated by our accreditation bodies of International Baccalaureate (IBDP and PYP), Middle States Association and Council of International Schools.  The informational feedback gained from these groups will reinforce UAS programmatic strengths and provide a guideline for continuous program improvement as well.

An important meeting for parents in Grades 4 and 5 will take place on Tuesday at 7:45 am in room 300.  This will be the second meeting with Eco Adventure to discuss the upcoming grade 4 and Grade 5 Camp experiences scheduled for February.  At this meeting the camp experience will be reviewed including educational activities, sleeping arrangements, teacher chaperones/supervision and address any parental questions.
