Dear Families and UAS ES Students!
Wow, what a fantastic start to the new school year. It was so nice seeing, meeting and chatting with you all this morning. UAS is truly lucky to have such students and families, thank you for choosing our school.
A few items that I wish to review with you:
Hallways: We will ask that you refrain from being in the classroom hallways at the start of the school day, 7:40. It is important that our classes are able to begin the school day on time and maximize the instructional time with the students’ classroom teacher. Therefore we ask that you do not bring your child to class, rather your child will meet the teacher at the outside line-up spot at 7:35 and go to her/his classroom with the teacher and their class.
Student Tardy has been a significant issue in the past. Last year the estimate for a daily average students being tardy was approximately 20%. This detracts and weakens the education for all students, both the student who arrived on time and the ones who are tardy. Please have your child to school and ready to line-up with their class by the morning whistle at 7:35 daily.
Those students arriving after the 7:45 mark are to proceed to the attendance window in the main entrance corridor to receive and entry slip. The student will then be asked to travel to their classroom by himself or herself and present the slip to the teacher upon entering the classroom.
Our goal is to keep that tardy percentage down to less than 5%!!!! Your assistance is much needed!
Student Dismissal practices have been altered from the previous year. In order to provide a more safe foyer area, we are asking that all children be picked up from parents or released from playground line-up area. Specifically:
- KG2 may be picked-up from the classroom at 3:05
- Grade 1 and Grade 2 meet parents at playground line-up at 3:05
- Grades 3 through Grade 5 will be dismissed on their own at 3:10
- All students riding the bus home will be escorted (via lower grades) and dismissed (via upper grades) to the bus area.
This has been a FANTASTIC first day of school! On behalf of the entire Elementary School staf , we thank you for your support and trust. We look forward to the second day of school and the continuation of a great year!

Dear UAS Elementary Community,
Welcome to the 2016-2107 school year at Universal American School in Dubai! We are so pleased to have our returning families and new families join us for a wonderful year of learning ahead!
At UAS, we take the responsibility of providing a safe and nurturing learning environment very seriously. Our teachers work together to create a welcoming environment that is developmentally appropriate, fosters independence, and ignites a zest for learning through authentic exploration and hands-on experiences. Our new faculty have been with us since the beginning of August and we welcome our entire faculty and staff back to UAS today – the halls are getting busy once again at UAS!
As a parent at UAS, you play a critical role in your child’s development and education. You will have several opportunities to engage with the school throughout the year. As a partner in the learning process, we invite you to support your children and classroom teachers maintaining open lines of communication and celebrating your child’s learning through their journey. Wait until you see your child on stage singing at a musical performance, or listening to your child through the early stages of their literacy development. Being a part of these important moments will make you proud and will ensure that you continue to nurture the stages of your child’s development.
We look forward to you taking an active role in our elementary school! We welcome you to join our community of learners at Universal American School. If we can be of assistance, please feel free to contact us.
Your feedback about timing of events at UAS is important to us. Please take this short survey to provide us feedback.
Please see important information below which will help you plan out this week before school and beyond.
