The final day before Spring Break has brought a lot of exciting events to a close at UAS. Today alone, grade 1 and grade 2 students shared and celebrated their learning at the Grade 1 and 2 Student Assembly, and students in grades 3-6 are about to participate in our Aquathon event. Early reports indicate that the students were able to raise 3200 AED for the Dubai Autism Center. Well done students, families and friends!
Please enjoy a recap video of the Grade 1 and 2 student assembly. The students organized and ran the entire event to celebrate their learning. Congratulations grade 1 and grade!
The latest edition of the Elementary Newsletter is out as we would like to share and celebrate what is happening in the elementary school before Spring Break. This month, you will have two choices to view the newsletter. The first is via the school’s new ISSUU site which will allow you to view the newsletter online. The second choice is via a downloadable PDF file. Enjoy this month’s newsletter!

One of the benefits of being a PYP school is that as educators we get to explicitly teach and recognize the attributes of the PYP Learner Profile in our students. This month, our counselors brought together a group of Risk Takers who were nominated by their peers and/or teachers in order to recognize them for displaying this positive attribute.
Our Scorpion students are risk takers because they have confidence to try new things and stand up for the things they believe in. Help us support and celebrate this quality in all of our children! Congratulations to the Risk Taker Lunch Bunch and thank you to Ms. Stephanie and Ms. Kim for pulling this group together!

March 26, 2015 @ 7pm

From March 24, 2015 through to March 26, 2015, just over 90 students from the Secondary School (including one amazing Elementary student) will be performing Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Broadway classic “The King and I.” This show chronicles the complex relationship between a Siamese King and an independent English school teacher, who has been brought over to teach the royal family the ways of the west. As Anna and the King begin to understand one another, they find themselves rarely seeing eye to eye. This family friendly musical has amazing dances, astounding songs, and wonderfully moving scenes. The performances will happen in conjunction with the IB Art Show, allowing ticket holders a special view into the world of the IB Art student. Tickets are only 30 AED, but limited seats are available each night, so get your tickets now! For tickets, email Asha Lynch at firstname.lastname@example.org with the night you would like to come and how many tickets you require.

The Scorpion Weekly News has been published for the week! Please watch the news to learn more from our anchors about International Week at UAS! As a reminder, the 4th grade Talent Show has been moved to Sunday, May 3rd and there is NO SCHOOL for students this Thursday, March 12th as it is a Professional Development Day for teachers and staff.
Thank you to the PTO for sponsoring UAS International Day 2015! The number of community members that came out to celebrate all that makes UAS a special place was truly impressive. From camels to kimonos, the performances, the booths, the activities, the food – all of it made the day truly special.
Thank you UAS community!

TALENT SHOW DATE CHANGE!
Parents! Our calendar said that this upcoming Monday, March 9th, was the date for the highly anticipated Grade 4 Talent Show. With all of the events in the past few weeks and continuing until the break, we have had difficulty finding the time to rehearse and give the kids the performance opportunity that they deserve. Because of this, the Talent Show has been moved to Sunday, May 3rd, 2015 with performances at 1:15 and 4:15. More details to follow!
Please email me Ms. Katie Schuessler with any questions/comments and thank you, as always, for your support of the Arts at UAS!
