Welcome back! Thank you for an amazing Halloween! Each of the students looked pretty awesome in their costumes!

Each year we celebrate UAE flag day by joining together from grades Pre-K to 12 and take a large photo. This year we will dress up in White T-shirts. Please make sure your child wears white! Even if the shirt has something on it we can turn it backwards for the photo and turn it around after the photo is complete. A good idea is to have students wearing their PE shirts.

READING SUPERHEROES!

DON’T PUT THE HALLOWEEN COSTUMES AWAY JUST  YET!We will begin our Super Hero Reading Unit on November 5th. Please send students to school with a Superhero cape or a towel, blanket, small sheet, etc. That we can decorate and use as SUPE READER CAPES!

Student Incidents at School

Hello again,

I want to thank you all for being so communicative and reaching out when their have been incidents that have occurred at school. Please continue to do so as, the more we communicate the more trust and understanding is built.

We have had a few incidents in which students have told us about an incident that has happened at school and have gone home to tell you all about the same incident with more  or less detail.

Please encourage your students to immediately tell Ms. Rose Ann or I of anything that happens at school, even if it involves a friend. We are understanding and can teach students how best to respond to situations on campus as soon as they happen.

Our students are our first priority and when you and I work together to ensure their safety and well-being we can make sure they grow into the responsible global thinkers we would like them to be!

Best,

TD

Halloween Celebrations Tomorrow! See you Then!

Dear Parents,

In the USA, Halloween at school is always an interesting event. Most students dress up in scary costumes, community helper costumes, make-believe costumes or not at all. They come excited to show their friends and to see the other costumes that might appear. Then they go home and walk around their neighborhoods knocking on doors and asking for trick or treats.

Tomorrow, Thursday October 26, 2017 we will simulate an United States “tradition” of Halloween. At 8:00 am we will participate in a parade that you are invited to stay and enjoy. Our class will be the first class in the parade, so please arrive prior to 7:30 am so your student enjoys the entire parade.

If your student is not dressing up, they can wear dress down clothes- no uniforms needed. If they are in costume and they might want to change once the parade and trick or treating is over, please provide a change of clothes.

After the parade we will trick-or-treat around the schools. Students will receive candy, pencils, erasers etc. Thank you to those who have purchased 30 pieces of candy or provided 30 small party favours to this activity.

At the end of the day, we will have a Halloween treat decorating party. Students really enjoy hands on activities and they chose the treats we will be making. This party is where students get to decorate and make Halloween treats. We have asked each student to bring a small part of the ingredient list. If you cannot find the listed ingredient, feel free to find a allergy safe alternative.

The treats are Halloween Cupcake Bats, One Eyed MONSTERS, BOO-NANA SHAKE, AND STRING CHEESE Witch Brooms

DRESS IN PINK TOMORROW!

KG2TD BREAST CANCER SURVIVOR CELBRATION:

Dear Parents,

Tomorrow we will be doing a Breast Cancer Awareness Walk in honour of Ms. Rose Ann. We had lesson today where I explained  Breast Cancer is when you are sick in your chest, and explained Ms. RoseAnn was sick but now is better. We wrote cards to her and will be presenting this to her tomorrow, at 2:30pm.

Please ensure your student wears Pink tomorrow. I have asked the Class WhatsApp Group if they might be willing to bring Pink Balloons so each student can hand them to her as they say their letters. After, we will ask her to release them.

You are very welcome to join us at 2:30 pm for this special celebration of our Breast Cancer Survivor.

Thank you,

TD

TO:  Parents and Students

It is swimming weather!!!!! KG2TD students will be swimming from October 8th  till October 19th. We will be swimming everyday.  We will walk from the line outside to the pool at 7:40 am each day. If you are running a little late, meet us at the pool!

Swimming is a compulsory part of the PE program.  Each student is required to participate. As safety is our number one priority, if there is a behavior problem in the pool said student will sit outside of the pool for the duration of the swimming lesson.

Each student will need a swimming suit
— for the girls please a one piece suit would be best
— for the boys please wear what is definitely a swimsuit
All students must wear a swimming cap (available in school store).
The students with very long or thick hair, a heavy cloth cap (sold in sports stores) is the easiest to get on. Goggles are optional.
Sandals/ water slippers/crocs are needed as we will be walking from the building to the pool.
