Personal Project Reflection

Monday, June 18th, 2018

Today I started my project. I’m feeling a bit nervous because we had some conflict about the script doc and we wasted 8 minutes trying to resolve it. I hope that tomorrow we are more relaxed, careful and less reckless. I am looking forward to the presentation because it will be interesting to see what others think of our play. We are planning for some playdates to work on the costumes and props. I might do a bit of work on the setting description tonight. I think that because today was the first day of working on this and because we had just had a 4 day weekend, that is why we were a bit unstable. But I hope that tomorrow is a better day.

Today, my group and I started the script. It actually didn’t go that badly! We got the first scene and first narrator part. We also started the second scene and began to practice the first scene. We are on an exploding spaceship trying to escape to earth. I am very pleased with how today worked out. I think we were very committed even though there were some times when we were silly and off topic. But it didn’t get that bad and we managed to settle down. I think I showed self-management because I did my own work and helped my group as well all in good time. I also think I was open-minded because I did not mind changing up some things for the props and scenes. Areej was also helpful with showing Amirah and I where to make changes and what to delete. Amirah was helpful because she helped find some examples for the special effects. She also helped find some possible examples for the backdrops. All in all, I think we had a very successful day! Yayay hooray!

Today we got a lot done. We memorized scene one, finished scene three and got almost halfway through scene four. Something I think might be challenging for us is the part where we have the exploding spaceship at the beginning. Another thing that might be hard is that we all start laughing when Areej is act crying. I think the thing that has been most enjoyable is when the Wendigo touches Amirah and she says “Hi, nice to meet you!” We exploded in laughter so many times. My goal by Thursday is to have scenes 4 and maybe 5 done. I also hope to put Aleena’s character in almost all of the scenes. I for one, think today was quite a success! I hope Areej and Amirah feel the same way!

Hey guys! So yeah, It’s the last week of school and we are almost done with our play! Today, we decided that since we have so little time, we are making it a radio play. When it’s done, I will try to give you guys the audio on here and make sure to comment about whether you like it or not. Today turned out to be a do almost nothing day. We barely did anything with the script and spent almost the whole time on silly sound effects. I really do hope we can get everything done by Wednesday. And guess how many scenes we have! 13! And there are going to be more! Although I said that we didn’t do a lot with the script, I just looked at it and realized that we finished 10 and 11 and got about halfway through scene 12 and started scene 13. I think that when we are done we will have somewhere between 13 and 18 scenes. I know, right? It’s a lot! So comment down below what number of scenes YOU think we will have and then when we are done with it I will tell you how many we wound up with in the end. So since we’re almost done, there will only be two or three more blog posts! HAPPY SUMMER! 🙂 See you next time!

Well, we made it! Almost done. All we have to do is practice a bit and record! So I’m quite happy with how we have budgeted our time. And to answer your question, we have fifteen scenes counting the ending. We have two narrator parts that Amirah is saying and two or three days ago – I’m not sure – we welcomed Aleena into our group. She appears in scenes 5 through 14 as a fake wendigo and helpful friend. So I am quite happy that we have something of quality to present. And I am very happy that we finished the script. Although we didn’t have much time to practice because we are best friends me, Areej and Amirah, so we talk a lot and laugh a lot and get off topic a lot. Yeah, definitely a lot for us to get distracted with! Our plan in the end is to record the play and put it on Google Classroom. And tomorrow is the last full day before the end of the school year! Yay! Comment below when your school gets out and if it already did, I hope your vacation is going well! And if you want you can also comment on whether you want me to put the play on here! Cya tomorrow!

Personal Project June 2018

My ideas are:

Write a play

Find and act out a play

Make a play

My final decision is that I will…

I will write and act out a play with Areej and Amirah

My plan is to…

Think of a setting and characters, write a draft for the play, write a final copy for the play, get props, get costumes, act out the play

I will keep my work / information…

The script will be on a Google Doc, the props will be at my house and the costumes will be at Amirah’s house

My final ‘product’ or my aim I am working to achieve is…

To have a play that we can present

Transdisciplinary Themes I am Working on:

HOW WE EXPRESS OURSELVES: expressing ideas; creativity; music, drama, art, writing, poetry

Approaches to Learning I will Focus On:

Thinking Skills – Understanding. Using knowledge in new situations.  Creating, designing, or inventing. Expressing feelings Making good decisions.

Self Management Skills -. Organization: Time management. Safety.  Appropriate behavior. Making good choices.

Communication Skills – Listening. Speaking. Reading. Writing. Presenting.

Research Skills – Planning. Drawing, note-taking, writing, organizing information.

Children Rights and Responsibilitys

Hi guys! In todays blog post, I will be reflecting on our last U.O.I. unit, The Rights and Responsibilities of Children. We did a lot in this unit, and I hope that you are impressed by what I did and learned.

The major project we did associated with the unit was a wax museum. The character I was was Anne Frank. She was a girl living in Netherlands, Amsterdam, from 1929-1945. She was born in Frankfurt, Germany. So the main idea of this project was to have us find out about a person and their rights, responsibilities  and who helped that person. Below is a video of my presentation while I was dressed up as Anne Frank.

Some stars for this project are: I ended up with a confident presentation to over 35 people and made $7.44 🙂  I was prepared and had enough to say. And I had notes and a bibliography that I recorded in and kept neat.

Some wishes I have are: I wish I talked a bit slower and I wish I said the same thing every time; I gave different speeches to different people, even though they were somewhat related.

One important thing that I think this project taught me was that even though you have a good life and education now, other kids just like me have no education and no good, nice houses. Another important thing I learned was that some things that were happening in 1880s, are still going on in some places and whatever you can do to help is very valuable.

Some action I think that I could take if I lived in the same time period would be to build a resistance fighting group to protect the Jewish people. Another thing I think I could do to help would be to help smuggle the Jewish people out of the country to somewhere where they would be safe forever.

Thank you for reading and see you next time! Byeeee!

Energy Reflection

Hi readers! Today, I will reflecting on my energy unit!

IN THE BEGINNING

When we started this unit, we did a paper on energy called Thinking About Energy. We did the first part, Think 1, first. Now, as I look back on it, I had some very silly and strange answers! One was ‘Energy is what makes you not sleepy’ My first thought on this was OMG, what is this??? I had some other ones too, like ‘Some energy can be dangerous while other energy helps people live.’ At least this one was more reasonable than the other one. Now, I look back and see how much I learned!

Roller Coasters!

During some of our first projects, we were discovering what gave roller coasters the energy to move. Above are some pictures of what we were trying to do. The first time, we were trying different heights to drop a marble from so that it wouldn’t fall in the alligator pit. The second time, we were doing a roller coaster with hills and target marbles. Target marbles are marbles that are somewhere along the roller coaster that the first marble has to knock into.

Energy Summit Planning

Day 1. Trying stuff!
It worked!!! Taking pictures for the Energy Summit.
Domino ramp!

A lot later in the unit, we had our Energy Summit planning start. The Energy Summit is an event where we have a week to create a project that is related to energy. My project was a Chain Reaction Machine. At first, I thought it would be very easy, I would just get some stuff and put it together like a puzzle, but I soon discovered that it was not as easy as that. I only had 3 working designs out of a large number of 7, and I had to be very clam and steady, for I was working with dominoes on a carpet.

Energy Summit

I have visitors!!
Ready!

I liked the Energy Summit for a lot of reasons. A few are that I had many people come and visit my tables, I had a good time in general, a lot of people were interested and said that they thought my project was one of the most creative they had seen and lastly, I was happy with how things went even though I couldn’t do everything I had planned.

The End!! I hope you enjoyed reading about my thoughts on the Energy unit! Bye and see you in my next post!!

Wow! Decimals!

This unit, we were working on decimals. Decimals are a part of a whole number. I used to think that decimals were the point that separates the whole number from the decimal. What a mistake!

My favorite part of the decimals unit was learning about adding decimals. This is my favorite part because I did not know a lot about adding decimals before we started working on decimals and I wanted to learn about everything, adding decimals being one of them. Now I know all about adding decimals. Here is a problem I can do.   12.8 + 9.1 = 21.9.

Something I want to improve in decimals is adding thousandths. I want to be better at this for two reasons. One is that it takes a very long time to do because of all the digits and two is that Sometimes I get confused and do the problem sort of wrong. Something I learned is that you can subtract decimals more easily than add them! (in my opinion)

I hope you learned a lot about decimals and why I like them in this post! Bye!

My Opinion Essay

Todays blog post is going to be my opinion essay I wrote about my favorite game, Star Stable. Enjoy!

Do you love horses? Video games? Well, if you love both, you really should try Star Stable. I love Star Stable mostly because if you are a horse lover and can’t have a horse, Star Stable lets you feel like you do have a horse! You also can change your horses very easily. I also love Star Stable because you can unlock new areas. The reason I love Star Stable the most is that there are new things added almost every week, like horses, quests, places and new features! Now, read on to find lots about Star Stable!

My first reason that Star Stable is the best is that if you are horse crazy but can’t have a horse, Star Stable lets you achieve your dream!

My first piece of evidence is when I was begging my dad for a horse and he said, “Go find a game that involves horses and stop bothering me!” That was all it took for me to go get my computer and start searching the web. Soon, I found Star Stable. I signed up right away and downloaded it. Soon, I had signed into the game and began playing. I was so happy that I finally had my own horse in a way!

My second piece of evidence is that you can highly customize your horses. When you sign up, you create your person and horse. There are 20 different mane and tail colors, and 16 different horse body colors. You can also chose a two part name out of over 1000 combinations! My first horse was a grey dapple with silver-white mane and tail. It was a stallion (male horse) named Tigersoul. You should always carefully choose your first horse because this is the horse you have the deepest connection to and the one that is the most important to the main story quests.

My third piece of evidence is that you can have as many horses as you want and change horses whenever you want! For example, even if you have only two horses, you can call for pickup or ride over to your stable to get on your other horse. An example of this is when I bought my second horse. The screen said it was in my stable. So, I just simply rode over to my stable and went in. My horse was in the first stall to the right so I just walked over and got on. This proves that it is very easy to change your horses. My proof that you can have as many horses as you want is that I have counted my horses multiple times and I have had  very large numbers recently. Some numbers are: 48, 51, 59 and 63. Another example is that also my sister and my friends also have told me they counted their horses and they have also reported high numbers.

My second reason that Star Stable is the best is that there are many areas to unlock.

The first example is that there are tons of more, new and exciting quests for each new area. For example, if you have finished an area like Moorland Stables, which is quite easy to complete, you might be anxious and impatient waiting to get to the next area and get more quests. When you unlock the next area, you will be happy because you will be able to explore a new place and do more quests to continue the storyline. Many people think that unlocking a new area in not very exciting because they have seen spoilers, but I think unlocking a new area is very exciting because the spoilers do not show everything and exploring a new area can help you find stars and secret areas.

Another example of the amazing areas is that the areas all have different environments to experience. An example of this is that Fort Pinta is like a town on the beach and Golden Hills Valley is like the countryside in fall. Another example of this is that some places are like the countryside, some are like the city, and some are like a farming world. Some names of the areas you can unlock are Golden Hills Valley, The Valley Of The Hidden Dinosaur, Mistfall, The Harvest Counties, South Hoof Peninsula and Epona.

My third example of areas is my opinion on them. I think that the areas sort of hold the game and story quests together, which is why I like them so much. My last evidence is a mini story. I remember when I had just finished Moorland Stables and most of the Fort Pinta quests when I saw a quest in Fort Pinta on my quest log. I raced there right away. It was the quest to unlock the brand new area, South Hoof! I was so happy and did the quests right away. This proves that unlocking the new areas is something that makes people very happy and exited.

Even though I love Star Stable because it lets you feel like you have a real horse and because there are super cool areas, I love it most because there are new things added into the game almost every week!!!

My first example is that if you are waiting for new quests for even the smallest storylines, you are usually very very very happy when you see that new quests are out. These new quests do usually take longer than getting out every week, so they more commonly take anywhere from a month to almost a year! I remember when I had finished the first part of the Mistfall questline so far. When I saw the weekly news that we would be able to continue questing with the Mistfall questline, I was sooooooo excited! This proves that many people love it when a new part of a questline.

My second piece of evidence is that a lot of people are waiting for new horses and/or asking Star Stable for new ones and when a new horse comes out, many people celebrate! YAY! Some examples of these horses that are brand new are the connemara, the Jorvik Wild Horses, and the Swiss Ponies. The Jorvik Wild Horses are usually in Jorvik only once or twice a year, so people are usually in anticipation, waiting.

My final piece of evidence is that there are new pets with every update. Some examples are the running pets like the silver mistfox, the golden mistfox, the winter squirrel and the Jorvagian favorite squirrel. My favorite pet is the silver mistfox because it seems to shine in the sun and sparkle, glitter, shine and glow in the night, looking like a firefly on the moon. I think that a lot of people do not like the silver mistfox because it is too bright but I think that the silver mistfox shines to look like the moon on a clear sky night.

Well, now I think that you have found out about mostly everything you need to know to like Star Stable. I think that knowing about the excitement of unlocking a new area, feeling like you have a horse and getting new stuff almost every week, is just about enough to get you persuaded to go try Star Stable out. Now………GO PLAY STAR STABLE!!!

U.O.I. Portfolio Advertisement

This work above is what I think is my best advert I made for the U.O.I. advertising unit.

I think that this work is the best for many reasons. One reason is that it clearly fits the audience I made it for, which is children. I think this because there is a lot color, not to many words and lots of helpful pictures.

I also think it is very good because it is an amazing improvement from the original, which was all words and three boring colors. Also, there were no pictures at all!!! What a tragedy!!!

The last thing I think this advert is good is because I think it is very persuasive. I think it is persuasive because it has big, bold lettering saying what is there and pictures showing more fun things to do at the fun fair. The fun fair is what my advert is about.

Thanks for reading! Remember to comment! See you again! Byeeeee!

Math Unit 3

This math unit I learned about factors, prime numbers, composite numbers, + and – sums and open number sentences. For extra work, I also did prime factorization and Penta Primes, a prime numbers puzzle.

I learned about prime numbers. Some prime numbers ARE 3,5 and 97. These are NOT prime numbers: 22, 40 and 14. Prime numbers have only two factors, one and itself. There are only two numbers that are not prime OR composite; one and zero. One only has one factor and zero, well, has no factors. Two is the only even prime number because it has two factors, one and two. All prime numbers are odd except 2.

I also learned about composite numbers. Composite numbers are all even except for two. Composite numbers are all even because even numbers can all be divided into more than half. Composite numbers are numbers like 10, 14 and 22. 10/5 is 2. 10/1 is 10. Composite numbers have more that two factors. The factors of 10 are 1,10,2 and 5.

We also worked on word problems. An example of one is:The man and his 23 dogs were walking along the street. Then, they met another man with 19 dogs came along. How many dogs were there now?

This is the end of my math post for today. Bye friends!

My Company for U.O.I.

This week I was making a company called Crazy Cases with Sami and Hamdan. We had some difficulties and problems but we managed to solve them in the end.

Some problems we had were disagreements. We disagreed on things like what we did and did not keep. We did a vote most of the time and we managed to solve things and agree. Another problem we had was we did not do a lot of home work. I think this was a problem because some things were not very detailed and not very interesting.

I think our adverts were creative because we used very creative images for our online Google Document and our slideshow. We also used lots of color and drawings for our paper posters.

Next time if I was going to do the same thing, I think I would work alone because it is easier if you do not have to worry about what other people are doing. I also would do some more home work because then things will be more detailed.

I hope that you like this post! Remember to leave your thoughts in the comments!

Adverts and Advertising

This week, I learned about advertising. Look up at a billboard. It’s an add. Most magazines have many ads in them. Same with newspapers. Ads are pretty much a companies way of making you want to buy their product. Ads are usually very interesting and colorful, another way of persuading you to remember and go buy the product. Some ads also advertise their products only when there is a sale. This is a tactful way to make you really want to go buy a product right away.

I like the ad below a lot because it has so many ways of describing the product, making you want the product right away. I also like this ad because it describes all of the features of the product and more! It is a very creative ad because of all of the exotic colors used in the ad.
