Learning at UAS!

Week of February 23rd-27th

on February 23, 2020

Dear parents,

This week we will begin our investigation into our new unit of inquiry: Insects.

Our students are very excited to share their knowledge and explore this new topic.

Please let us know if someone in your family has a job related to insects (e.g. nature photographer, gardener, beekeeper, exterminator) and would like to share their expertise with the class.

What you can do at home:

Talk with your child about the different kinds of insects you see. If possible, examine harmless insects you notice in your community. What features do they have? Point out interesting features, such as colors or patterns, where they live and how they move e.g. flying, crawling or jumping).

At the end of our study we will have a special event to show you what we’ve learned.

Thank you for playing an important role in our learning!

Questions of the day:

What is this? Show a picture of insects.

Which is bigger? (Show a picture of an animal and a picture of an insect ie- giraffe vs a ladybug)

Did you see an insect today?

What are these? (Show two to three photos, e.g fly, earthworm, centipede.)
