Children’s Rights & Responsibilities

Hello readers!

Today I want to share with you my U.O.I project Children’s Rights & Responsibilities.  In this unit, I had to study about a character or I could make my own character that doesn’t even exist!  But my character should have real rights that have been denied.  I researched about street children living in India.  My characters name was Ranbeer Kabhav and he had to live on the streets.  To present our project we did a “living wax museum”.  The idea was to be frozen and have a slip to put fake coins in.  When people come by and put the fake coins in, we come to life and explain our characters life and how it has changed. The important thing about this unit is that I learned about how many people have denied rights.

I would want to have more eye contact with my audience.  I liked how detailed I made my speech and how we were all able to stay frozen until someone came.  If you want to watch my video on Ranbeer Kabhav’s life then here it is.

I really liked this unit because we were researching different sources and finding out different websites that actually help people/kids living in poverty.  I found a website called Tab for a Cause on google webstore.  Tab for a Cause is a website where you can donate hearts to different causes.  If you are interested then watch this video https://drive.google.com/file/d/1e20SMPRcbDyLiKugJAT28t1F3ZBiVIs2/view

My Persuasive Writing

Hello readers today I want to show you my persuasive essay to convince people to have more P.E in school.

ENJOY!

Do you like P.E? Do you want to be as strong as John Cena or as fast as Usain Bolt?  With more P.E, kids can be very fit. Read on to convince your parents to have more P.E.  P.E is a very fun subject because kids can play games and also play sports. There is also a benefit to having more P.E, kids can take part in sports teams and can also win medals and trophies.  I hope that after reading this you will convince your parents to have more P.E in school.

The first reason why kids should have more P.E is because kids learn to communicate with each other.  Kids in P.E have to usually work in groups so they have to talk and listen to each other, they also work together. ]Also on http://www.debate.org/opinions/should-children-have-more-p-e-in-school more than 80% of people say that kids should have more P.E.  For example, my friend Issa said “I’d like to have more P.E in school because I like to be with my friends and to work with them.”  A lot of kids should have more P.E because they even become friends with other people that they didn’t like before and work with each other.  Kids should have more P.E in school because they are with their friends as my friend Issa stated, they also want to be with each other and to compete and work with each other to win games. They also work with people they don’t usually work with and might even become friends with those people.  Kids also get to know each other better when they are in groups and they know who all are in their class who they didn’t know before. Kids learn to talk with each other because there are some people who are very shy and communicate with each other, but if there is more P.E in school they will have to talk with each other and become less shy and learn to communicate with people, they also get to know each other and people who are shy might even learn things about their friends that they didn’t know before.  This is my first reason why I think kids should have more P.E in school.

The second reason why I think kids should have more P.E in school is because kids will help each other when/if they get hurt. If kids have more P.E they spend time with their friends so if get hurt they will always help each other out.  Friends help each other out and everyone has friends, and kids will learn to take good care of their classmates. The important thing about this is that kids will want to help each other even if its not their friend or if it’s someone they don’t like. In other words kids will learn to always help their classmates out even if they are not someone they like, kids will always help other. Kids help each other because they are their friends or family and with more P.E kids will also learn to look after other people that are new to the school.  To add on if someone is new to your child’s school and the new person is very shy and might not even like the school because of bullying or mean teachers, your child in P.E if the new person is in their group they will be nice to them and help them.In other words kids will be there for each other and always help each other out.  This is the second reason why I think kids should have more P.E in school so they helps each other.

The third reason why I think students should have more P.E in school is because they can excel in their hobbies.  Is your child a fan of Lionel Messi? Is your child a fan of Michael Jordan? Well in P.E your child can do all of these activities.  For example, in P.E kids can play all sorts of sports and be able to enjoy themselves. In P.E kids can play any sport, for example: kids can play soccer, basketball, tennis, badminton, hokey, swimming, etc.  With more P.E kids would love to do their favorite sport they might even learn how to play a sport they never knew how to play. Once when I had P.E our new unit was hokey, I thought that hokey was very boring and that we would never play any matches.  But after some time I realized that hokey is very interesting and fun. If a child has more P.E they learn to like different sports and then those sports become one of their favorite hobbies. I never liked hokey but now I learned how fun and interesting it was.  P.E can let your child have many interesting hobbies and they might even like something they never even liked before or they might learn a new sport they never even heard of before. Your child might learn something about a sport they never knew before. This is the third reason why kids should have more P.E in school.

These are three reasons why I think kids should have more P.E in school I hope these three reasons have changed your point of view of P.E. Kids should have more P.E in school so they communicate with each other, because they learn to help each other, and most importantly because they can excel in their hobbies.  Now hears what I want you to do…PUT DOWN THAT IPAD AND CONVINCE YOUR TEACHERS TO HAVE MORE P.E INSTEAD OF SITTING AROUND AND STUFFING YOUR FACE WITH CHIPS! Thank You.

Please if you love P.E in your school then make sure you go and do it. I hope that after reading this you guys would also convince your parents and teachers to have more P.E in school. This is my persuasive essay. And remember…STOP EATING JUNK FOOD!

My Opinion Essay

Do you like swimming? If you do then let me tell you about the greatest swimmer in the world, the greatest swimmer in the world is Michael Phelps.  Swimming is 1 of the world’s most popular sport.  The 4 most popular strokes in swimming are freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly.  Michael Phelps is very strong and he is not selfish, he is very kind to everyone and wants to help people, he is also very smart and he is not negative, and also because he never gives up.  He is also very determined and he wants to make a difference in the world.  Today I want to tell you 3 reasons why I admire Michael Phelps.]

The first reason why I admire Michael Phelps is because he always wants to get better. Every day after his competitions he doesn’t think that he has done enough, so he will go to the pool and swim 50 laps!  He always thinks that he has to do more than he already can. Everyone says that he is the best swimmer in the world, but he disagrees, he thinks that he will always have to improve and that he is still not as good as he thinks he needs to be.  He will always go past the limit, sometimes he will even swim 200 laps! He is a very very good swimmer but he will always want to get better.  What surprises me about this is that even if Michael Phelps is the best swimmer he never thinks that he has truly reached his goal. I used to think that all the celebrities in the world were very selfish because they were very rich, but now I see that not all celebrities are mean, lazy, or selfish, in fact some of them are really nice.  What surprises me is that many people think that all the celebrities in the world are lazy, they think that once  a celebrity reaches their goal they stop and finish, but I think that celebrities will always try to improve, I know Michael Phelps always wants to improve.  In other words Michael Phelps will do anything to get even better.  This is the first reason why I admire Michael Phelps.

The second reason why I admire Michael Phelps is because he says that everything is possible.  Michael Phelps will always try to make the impossible possible, If there is something that people say is impossible Michael Phelps will try to achieve it.  He thinks that not only himself but also others to try to do more than they already can, and to always push past their limit, as I say this I am realizing that no matter what Michael Phelps will always try to make everything  possible, an example of this is if someone says something is impossible Michael Phelps will do whatever he can to make it possible.  People say that some things are totally impossible, but Michael Phelps does not think so, he believes that almost anything is possible.  To add on Michael Phelps does not want to believe  that thing are impossible, he thinks that even if people want to believe that things are impossible, Michael Phelps likes to believe that almost everything is possible.  This is the second reason why I admire Michael Phelps.

Although I admire Michael Phelps because he always wants to get better and because he  thinks that everything is possible, the main reason why I admire Michael Phelps is because he always inspires kids/adults to get better in swimming.  If an adult is having trouble and their thinking that they should give up, he will keep trying to make them better. He is also never negative, if someone has troubles he will teach them the skill 10 times or even 20 times!  He will keep on teaching them anything they have a struggle with until the person gets the skill perfectly.  He never thinks that people can’t improve, he will always tell the person to get better and to keep on trying and to never give up.  He will do whatever he can to ensure that the person will be the best that he can be, and sometimes, if a person has reached their goal, he will try to push the person past their limit.  This shows that whatever happens Michael Phelps will always try to help the person.  As I am saying this I am realizing that whenever people are in a struggle they will always come to Michael Phelps and Michael Phelps will always help them.  In other words Michael Phelps is very helpful, very positive, and most of all, he is the most inspirational man that I know.  This is the third reason why I admire Michael Phelps.

I admire Michael Phelps for 3 reasons, one because he will always get better, two because he thinks that everything is possible, and most importantly because he inspires kids & adults to never give up and to get better.  These are the three reasons why I admire Michael Phelps.  If you want to be as good as Michael Phelps then why don’t you do swimming, put down that I Pad and do some swimming.

MICHAEL PHELPS IS THE BEST!

                                   The Believer

                                         Written by:Neil Menon

Ben always wanted to be with the cool kids at the school he goes to and he always thought that they were so nice.  And one day he got his wish, but it turns out that the cool kids just bullied other kids and they mistreated Ben.

Ben was a 7 year old boy and his favorite color was blue, and he was always being teased because he was a nerd and he was super gullible, the reason that he was so gullible was because everyone could play the same prank on him every single day.

Ben used to be a nice kid but when he became friends with the cool kids at his school he became a BULLY! [DUN DUN DUNNNN!!!] One day Ben thought that he should go tell his parents about the bullies and that’s exactly what he did. “Mom, dad I need to talk to you.” “Sure honey.” said Ben’s mom as she was cleaning the dishes. “What is it son?” said his dad as he continued to read his morning newspaper, “I have some friends… but they bully kids.” his parents dropped what was in their hands, “YOU ARE FRIENDS WITH WHO!!!!!!” yelled his parents at the same time.  “bullies.” said Ben with a soft voice.  “Look son, bullies are mean and it is not even legal in our country.  Tomorrow when you go to school I want you to leave this group of bullies.” Ben’s father made Ben promise to leave the bullies.

The next day Ben was eating with his friends at a bench when one of them said “Yo Ben, come over here and throw away my trash.” Ben didn’t move he said again “Ben I thought I told you to come to throw my trash?!”

Ben replied “You thought, you didn’t say.” they got up and they yelled “GET HIM!!!”Ben ran for his life and suddenly he saw something, it was a teacher! He went to her and told her that those bullies were after him.

The teacher told the bullies to stop, she asked them “What on earth are you doing chasing a KID!!” she yelled at them for a while and then told the principal and the bullies got detention. Ben gave a sigh of relief “Finally” he said trying to catch his breath. “YAY!!!!!” Ben celebrated with joy, he felt as if he just  got cured from the plague.

After a while when Ben was done celebrating his victory he thought that he should say sorry to all the kids he had bullied,

“Sorry for bullying you guys, I did not mean to bully you but I was too scared to stand up to them. I’m really sorry, can you please forgive me?” The kids looked at each other, then they said

“We forgive you but you owe us now, ok?”

“Okay.” said Ben glad that he had some friends again.

“Do you want to play soccer with us?” they asked“Sure!!” Ben said happily and was once again the nicest kid in school. “AAAAGGGGHHHH!!!”screamed the bullies with boredom.

I want to share this because I think that children can learn to make real friends not ones that are mean or misbehave.

The things that I learned were that all fiction books have a theme. A theme is the point of the story or the life lesson that the character learns in the story. I also learned how characters can change in the exposition, the rising acton, the climax or the falling action.

An EXPOSITION,  is the beginning of a story or the introduction. The RISING ACTION,  is like what is happening before the main part of the story. Next is the CLIMAX, a climax is the main important part in the story, a book can have more than one climax. And finally the FALLING ACTION, and that is like the the end of the book and the writers tell you what has happened to all the characters before they finish the book.

I could improve by putting more and more detail an that I could edit and remove all the un-important parts of the story.

I was being reflective because I was always trying to improve my writing.
