Personal Project Reflection

Monday, June 18, 2018

Hello readers!

Today I want share with you about my personal project.  During this project, I will be making a game with my friend Sami.  I am feeling very happy because I get to be making something I love.  Today, me and Sami were making characters and suddenly, we found out that instead of doing drawings, we could go to Sketch.io and click on animated pictures!  It worked really well and we were really focused and were chatting on what we could make the game look like.  Today was a really good day and I hope we can always be like this every day throughout this project.

Hello readers!

I want to tell you how my day went today on my personal project.  Me and Sami were struggling to find a good template to create our game.  However, our teacher helped me and Sami to find a better place to create our game, Scratch.  Scratch helps kids to create games easily.  Even the coding part was actually easy because instead of having complex codes, Scratch gives you a simple code.  I learned that there are 2 different types of codes, easy codes and hard codes.  Me and Sami were trying coding the hard way, but we learned that doing things that are very hard is nearly impossible to do unless you know how to do it.  I demonstrated that I was a good communicator because when me and Sami were not arguing on who will do what.  Me and Sami are working together as a team.  This is how the second day of my personal project went.

Hello readers!

Today I want to share with you how my day went.  Me and Sami finally finished our project!  Well me and Sami didn’t exactly make the game, we made a trailer on i movie about our game.  Our game is called THE CUBIST.  Me and Sami presented our game and I feel accomplishment.  We explained how we changed from making a game to making a trailer.  We practiced very much and we presented.  The presentation didn’t go exactly as planned, but this shows that sometimes, plans change.  I am very happy that I got to do something I really wanted to do with my friend, Sami.  Thank you!

Children’s Rights & Responsibilities

Hello readers!

Today I want to share with you my U.O.I project Children’s Rights & Responsibilities.  In this unit, I had to study about a character or I could make my own character that doesn’t even exist!  But my character should have real rights that have been denied.  I researched about street children living in India.  My characters name was Ranbeer Kabhav and he had to live on the streets.  To present our project we did a “living wax museum”.  The idea was to be frozen and have a slip to put fake coins in.  When people come by and put the fake coins in, we come to life and explain our characters life and how it has changed. The important thing about this unit is that I learned about how many people have denied rights.

I would want to have more eye contact with my audience.  I liked how detailed I made my speech and how we were all able to stay frozen until someone came.  If you want to watch my video on Ranbeer Kabhav’s life then here it is.

I really liked this unit because we were researching different sources and finding out different websites that actually help people/kids living in poverty.  I found a website called Tab for a Cause on google webstore.  Tab for a Cause is a website where you can donate hearts to different causes.  If you are interested then watch this video https://drive.google.com/file/d/1e20SMPRcbDyLiKugJAT28t1F3ZBiVIs2/view

My U.O.I Reflection

Hello readers!

Today I want to share with you about my new unit about energy.  I learned about all the different types of energy, and today I want to share with you all the different things that I had learned about energy.  Energy does not just give you the power to do something, it can come in many different forms, for example, energy can come as heat, water, geothermal, biomass, height, etc.

Energy does give you the power to move, but have you ever wondered where the energy comes from?  Energy comes from the sun which grows plants which becomes food which humans eat and get their energy.  I went on a field trip with my friends to a place called Sustainable City, where we learned about solar energy and the thing that I was most impressed of was how the people showed me how hot wind can be turned into cold wind with this small structure. The hot wind comes in the top and there are big pads that are filled with water so when the wind blows on the water it comes out as cold air.  I was really impressed by this and I liked the idea.

We made our own groups and made inventions based on energy.  Me and my friends Abdulla, Raza, and Omar made an invention about chain reactions.  And we showed people how energy is transferred from one object to another.  It was very fun and I hope we can keep having fun projects.  I really loved this unit and I hope that you all have learned something about energy that you didn’t know before.  See? Energy isn’t all about the power that can help you move.

This is the tower that I was talking about earlier

Bye and see you for another blog post!

My Persuasive Writing

Hello readers today I want to show you my persuasive essay to convince people to have more P.E in school.

ENJOY!

Do you like P.E? Do you want to be as strong as John Cena or as fast as Usain Bolt?  With more P.E, kids can be very fit. Read on to convince your parents to have more P.E.  P.E is a very fun subject because kids can play games and also play sports. There is also a benefit to having more P.E, kids can take part in sports teams and can also win medals and trophies.  I hope that after reading this you will convince your parents to have more P.E in school.

The first reason why kids should have more P.E is because kids learn to communicate with each other.  Kids in P.E have to usually work in groups so they have to talk and listen to each other, they also work together. ]Also on http://www.debate.org/opinions/should-children-have-more-p-e-in-school more than 80% of people say that kids should have more P.E.  For example, my friend Issa said “I’d like to have more P.E in school because I like to be with my friends and to work with them.”  A lot of kids should have more P.E because they even become friends with other people that they didn’t like before and work with each other.  Kids should have more P.E in school because they are with their friends as my friend Issa stated, they also want to be with each other and to compete and work with each other to win games. They also work with people they don’t usually work with and might even become friends with those people.  Kids also get to know each other better when they are in groups and they know who all are in their class who they didn’t know before. Kids learn to talk with each other because there are some people who are very shy and communicate with each other, but if there is more P.E in school they will have to talk with each other and become less shy and learn to communicate with people, they also get to know each other and people who are shy might even learn things about their friends that they didn’t know before.  This is my first reason why I think kids should have more P.E in school.

The second reason why I think kids should have more P.E in school is because kids will help each other when/if they get hurt. If kids have more P.E they spend time with their friends so if get hurt they will always help each other out.  Friends help each other out and everyone has friends, and kids will learn to take good care of their classmates. The important thing about this is that kids will want to help each other even if its not their friend or if it’s someone they don’t like. In other words kids will learn to always help their classmates out even if they are not someone they like, kids will always help other. Kids help each other because they are their friends or family and with more P.E kids will also learn to look after other people that are new to the school.  To add on if someone is new to your child’s school and the new person is very shy and might not even like the school because of bullying or mean teachers, your child in P.E if the new person is in their group they will be nice to them and help them.In other words kids will be there for each other and always help each other out.  This is the second reason why I think kids should have more P.E in school so they helps each other.

The third reason why I think students should have more P.E in school is because they can excel in their hobbies.  Is your child a fan of Lionel Messi? Is your child a fan of Michael Jordan? Well in P.E your child can do all of these activities.  For example, in P.E kids can play all sorts of sports and be able to enjoy themselves. In P.E kids can play any sport, for example: kids can play soccer, basketball, tennis, badminton, hokey, swimming, etc.  With more P.E kids would love to do their favorite sport they might even learn how to play a sport they never knew how to play. Once when I had P.E our new unit was hokey, I thought that hokey was very boring and that we would never play any matches.  But after some time I realized that hokey is very interesting and fun. If a child has more P.E they learn to like different sports and then those sports become one of their favorite hobbies. I never liked hokey but now I learned how fun and interesting it was.  P.E can let your child have many interesting hobbies and they might even like something they never even liked before or they might learn a new sport they never even heard of before. Your child might learn something about a sport they never knew before. This is the third reason why kids should have more P.E in school.

These are three reasons why I think kids should have more P.E in school I hope these three reasons have changed your point of view of P.E. Kids should have more P.E in school so they communicate with each other, because they learn to help each other, and most importantly because they can excel in their hobbies.  Now hears what I want you to do…PUT DOWN THAT IPAD AND CONVINCE YOUR TEACHERS TO HAVE MORE P.E INSTEAD OF SITTING AROUND AND STUFFING YOUR FACE WITH CHIPS! Thank You.

Please if you love P.E in your school then make sure you go and do it. I hope that after reading this you guys would also convince your parents and teachers to have more P.E in school. This is my persuasive essay. And remember…STOP EATING JUNK FOOD!

Decimals are Great

Do you know what are decimals?  Decimals are not the points between numbers.  Decimals are the dots that separate whole numbers from parts of a number.  For example decimals can be like this: 3.20 or 7,937,445.998,376.  Decimals can be as long as you want.  To put in a more simple way decimals are just another way to write fractions.  You can keep adding numbers to decimals to make them an infinite number.

Decimals can come as fractions or in measurements or in money.  For example you can have $2.35 you can also have 2.35 cm,mm,km, or m.  Another example of decimals are 1 over 100 but to write that as decimals it would be 0.01.  The numbers before the point go in order backwards from the numbers after the point.  For example the numbers before the point go in order like this: tenTHS, hundredTHS, thousandTHS, and so on. the numbers after go like ones, tens, hundreds, thousands, and so on

This is how to write decimals, they are not points they separate numbers from whole numbers.  If you have a test with decimals on it, remember this stuff.  I have a task for you to do, ask you parents to make a decimal place value test tell me you score on the comments below.  I hope these things have made you understand what decimals really are, don’t forget this stuff.  Bye!

My Opinion Essay

Do you like swimming? If you do then let me tell you about the greatest swimmer in the world, the greatest swimmer in the world is Michael Phelps.  Swimming is 1 of the world’s most popular sport.  The 4 most popular strokes in swimming are freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly.  Michael Phelps is very strong and he is not selfish, he is very kind to everyone and wants to help people, he is also very smart and he is not negative, and also because he never gives up.  He is also very determined and he wants to make a difference in the world.  Today I want to tell you 3 reasons why I admire Michael Phelps.]

The first reason why I admire Michael Phelps is because he always wants to get better. Every day after his competitions he doesn’t think that he has done enough, so he will go to the pool and swim 50 laps!  He always thinks that he has to do more than he already can. Everyone says that he is the best swimmer in the world, but he disagrees, he thinks that he will always have to improve and that he is still not as good as he thinks he needs to be.  He will always go past the limit, sometimes he will even swim 200 laps! He is a very very good swimmer but he will always want to get better.  What surprises me about this is that even if Michael Phelps is the best swimmer he never thinks that he has truly reached his goal. I used to think that all the celebrities in the world were very selfish because they were very rich, but now I see that not all celebrities are mean, lazy, or selfish, in fact some of them are really nice.  What surprises me is that many people think that all the celebrities in the world are lazy, they think that once  a celebrity reaches their goal they stop and finish, but I think that celebrities will always try to improve, I know Michael Phelps always wants to improve.  In other words Michael Phelps will do anything to get even better.  This is the first reason why I admire Michael Phelps.

The second reason why I admire Michael Phelps is because he says that everything is possible.  Michael Phelps will always try to make the impossible possible, If there is something that people say is impossible Michael Phelps will try to achieve it.  He thinks that not only himself but also others to try to do more than they already can, and to always push past their limit, as I say this I am realizing that no matter what Michael Phelps will always try to make everything  possible, an example of this is if someone says something is impossible Michael Phelps will do whatever he can to make it possible.  People say that some things are totally impossible, but Michael Phelps does not think so, he believes that almost anything is possible.  To add on Michael Phelps does not want to believe  that thing are impossible, he thinks that even if people want to believe that things are impossible, Michael Phelps likes to believe that almost everything is possible.  This is the second reason why I admire Michael Phelps.

Although I admire Michael Phelps because he always wants to get better and because he  thinks that everything is possible, the main reason why I admire Michael Phelps is because he always inspires kids/adults to get better in swimming.  If an adult is having trouble and their thinking that they should give up, he will keep trying to make them better. He is also never negative, if someone has troubles he will teach them the skill 10 times or even 20 times!  He will keep on teaching them anything they have a struggle with until the person gets the skill perfectly.  He never thinks that people can’t improve, he will always tell the person to get better and to keep on trying and to never give up.  He will do whatever he can to ensure that the person will be the best that he can be, and sometimes, if a person has reached their goal, he will try to push the person past their limit.  This shows that whatever happens Michael Phelps will always try to help the person.  As I am saying this I am realizing that whenever people are in a struggle they will always come to Michael Phelps and Michael Phelps will always help them.  In other words Michael Phelps is very helpful, very positive, and most of all, he is the most inspirational man that I know.  This is the third reason why I admire Michael Phelps.

I admire Michael Phelps for 3 reasons, one because he will always get better, two because he thinks that everything is possible, and most importantly because he inspires kids & adults to never give up and to get better.  These are the three reasons why I admire Michael Phelps.  If you want to be as good as Michael Phelps then why don’t you do swimming, put down that I Pad and do some swimming.

MICHAEL PHELPS IS THE BEST!

Reflecting on my Personal Inquiry Project

Hello readers, today I want to tell you about my project on advertising.

I made my own advertisement and its for TEEN CLUB, its not an actual place but I just made it up.  Why did I choose this type of advert? I choose this type of advert because I felt that I could draw the types of pictures that teenagers like and that I could put all the colors that teenagers like as well.  I did my project by myself and I did everything alone.  How did I make & present my advert?  The way that I made my advert was by drawing in different types of styles for example drew the letters TEEN CLUB in a spike type if writing and I also drew some skulls and some fire and I drew some sort of rock notes to make it look like a teen advert.  I made an I Movie to present my work and in it I explained everything I am telling you now, this is how I made & presented my advert.

How would I grade myself on this project?  I would grade myself from 1/10 an 8 and a half because I think that I did a good job and a bad job.  I did a good job because I different styles in drawing & writing and because I was focussed on my project, but I did a bad job because I did not put a lot of creativity in my advert. I could improve by making my future projects more and more detailed.  This is how I would grade my self on this project.

I noticed that one group created a video and that they put and I also so another group that made a model of what they were advertising, for example one group had created their own cereal and they made big box with their cereal name on it and it was called “ZINCH”.

I learned that there are WAY more different types of ways to create adverts and that adverts are all around us, I will tell you 4 different ways you can advertise something:

  1. Your reading this with your mac book, so you are advertising apple.
  2. Everyone who wears a uniform is advertising their school.
  3. If you go to borders and you buy a book[s], you get a bag and when you carry that bag around that bag you are advertising borders.
  4. Everything in your house is advertising a company.

When I finally finished my project I felt proud of myself because I finally finished, all that work was finally done.  And at the end I realized that making an advert is not that easy, it takes a long time, a lot of work, and most of all it has to be GOOD & PERSUASIVE.  Thank you readers for reading this if you have any questions or comments just write them down below:

Thank You!

Advertising

This week I learned all about advertising.I was very surprised by how many adverts there were and how many forms they came in, i also learned that advertisements are all around us. I enjoyed when we got in groups and talked about all the different types of adverts.

These are the different types of adverts:

  • magazines
  • videos
  • radio
  • bill boards
  • banners

I wanted to know how long do adverts take to be made and to be published?

I think advertising is important because they give us information and because they are very entertaining to kids.

I want to share this advert below because I feel kids will like it and adults because it a song for the advert and because it is really funny!

Click HERE to watch the video.

Enjoy!

Question:what did you think of the video? Did you find it funny?

Please leave your comments down below.

«U.O.I Portfolio»

Our central idea was:The World Changes due to Natural Processes & Human Innovation.

The things that we learned were…

  •  Will a mountain last forever?
  • Why is there sand at the beach?
  • Can a volcano pop up in your backyard?
  • Whats strong enough to make a canyon?

I want to share a piece of work that I think is awesome.

It’s Can a volcano pop up in your backyard?

We learned things like:

  • That the ring of fire is not really in the shape of a circle, click HERE if you want to see the ring of fire.
  • Actually the ring of fire is not even a polygon!

If you have any comments/suggestions please write them down below.

Thank You!
