2 things

Good afternoon,

I hope you and your family are enjoying a beautiful weekend. Two quick things to remember.

  1. Please be sure to let me know if your child will be staying at school on Monday afternoon so I can plan accordingly for plenty of supervision. I look forward to meeting with you and sharing our day in KG2!
  2. Sunday is our library day so please help your child remember to return their book tomorrow so that they can check out a new book.

Thank you.

Dear parents;

We have had a great week. I am so happy with how well the children have settled into KG2, our schedule and routine.

This week I have done some assessing of their alphabet, writing, counting and reading readiness. This information will help me better differentiate my teaching for the various levels we have in our class.

Yesterday you should have received a form about back to school night. I hope that you have filled it out and returned it today. If not, please send me a quick email. This information will help with the planning of supervision needed at 3:00-4:30. It is very important that you let me know if your child is staying or they will be going home either with you or the bus.

I look forward to spending some time with you to go over the KG2 curriculum and our expectations for the year.

Have a nice weekend,

Just a reminder that tomorrow is our first early release day. School finishes at 2:00. You may pick up your child at 1:50. Bus children will leave school at 2:15. Have a nice afternoon together.

Birthday policy

Good afternoon,

Please see the Early Childhood birthday party policy below. We kindly ask that you follow the procedure in order to make things run smoothly and it is fair and consistent for all. Thank you.

This is a time for your child to celebrate their birthday with classmates. It is our EC policy that parents are allowed to bring a healthy snack (fruit kebabs, popcorn, juice, fruit cups etc) and/or cupcakes or mini doughnuts. Please, no cakes or treat bags.

You will need to make arrangements with your child’s teacher a week in advance for planning purposes. Unfortunately due to fire regulations, we are not allowed to light any candles and would also appreciate no birthday decorations or party horns.

We would also like you to know that siblings, cousins or friends from other classes may not join the class celebrations.

Thank you.

Welcome to KG2!

Dear parents;

Welcome to KG2! I am happy you and your children are here. I am looking forward to a great year. I really like this soft entrance into KG. I think it has made for a much smoother, calmer start to school. I am excited to see everyone on Sunday.

I will just list a few things for your attention. We’ll have more of a chance to go through things when you come for Back to school night.

  • Please be sure your child has a hit with their name in it that they can leave at school.
  • Please email me and attendance@uasdubai.ae if your child is going to be absent.
  • Some of the children had difficulty deciding what to eat at lunch and snack. It will make it easier for your child if you either pack 2 different boxes of label the containers snack or lunch. I prefer they keep more filling food such as rice, pasta or nuggets for lunch. It is a very long day for them.
  • Pick up is at 3:00 for KG2 this year. Please try your best to be on time. It makes children quite anxious if the other kids are gone and they are the only ones left. Late children will be waiting in the lobby supervised by an administrator.
  • Please be on time in the morning. They should be on the playground by 7:35 with their bags. We will come in at 7:40. It is important to me that they begin the day outside with us. This leads to much more independence. We start our day right away with calendar. This is a big part of our math program. When your child is late it makes for a harder transition as well as missing academics.
  • You may want to send a jacket for your child to wear in the classroom. The thermostat in the classroom is broken. They are going to replace it asap but until then it may feel cold to some of the children.
  • Please be sure to return the blue Arabic form on Sunday so we can get the children properly placed and begin classes.
  • Please don’t hesitate to email me with questions or concerns. It is important to get the correct information or clear the air right away if there is a problem. lfinney@uasdubai.ae
  • No school on Thu. Sept. 21st. Happy Islamic New Year!

Enough for now. I am eager to get to know your children better and begin a great year.

Have a nice weekend.

See you on Sunday,
