Welcome to Ms. Lisa and Ms. Thelma’s class!
Hello! My name is Lisa Dornan and I am so excited to be working with your children this school year. I am originally from the United States. This is my ninth year teaching. I have previously taught preschool and kindergarten in Norway, Sweden, and the United States.
I graduated from the University of Virginia with a Master of Teaching with a focus in PreK to 3rd grade and a Bachelors of Arts with a focus in psychology and child development. I also attended George Mason University where I earned a graduate certificate in International Baccalaureate Studies.
I believe that preschool is the foundation for a happy and successful education. My role in the classroom is to help your child discover, explore, investigate, and learn as well as develop important social-emotional skills. I also believe that communication is key, so please feel free to reach out to me about any questions, comments, or concerns you may have. We will work together to make this a wonderful school year!
Fun fact: My favorite children’s book is Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes.
This year we are lucky to have Thelma Santiago working in our classroom. Thelma is from Philippines. She has been working at the Universal American School for six years in early childhood.
Thelma loves to cook and skyping with her family back home. She is involved with her church and enjoys volunteering with children.
Thelma loves to work in early childhood because she believes that teaching is the instrument through she can help children explore and learn as they grow. She loves working with our youngest learners.
Fun Fact: Thelma favorite children’s author is Mo Willems.
