As a PYP school, student learning is organized through the PYP units of inquiry using The Creative Curriculum as our primary resource. The Creative Curriculum is a comprehensive, research-based curriculum aligned to the philosophy of the PYP, which features exploration and discovery as a way of learning, enabling children to develop confidence, creativity, and lifelong critical-thinking skills.
The units of inquiry are studies that span several weeks and are in-depth, project-based investigations of topics that are part of your child’s everyday life. They feature topics like music making, buildings, insects and simple machines. In a study, children raise questions about the topic and find answers by exploring, experimenting, and investigating with a hands-on approach through activities that take place in the classroom and outdoors.
Teachers monitor student progress based on objectives for development and learning that focus on all the areas that are most important for school success:
- Social Studies
- Science and Technology
- The Arts
These objectives are built into every activity that happens in the classroom, which means that all day long, our teachers are helping your child build skills and knowledge in these important areas.
UAS is proud to offer specialist classes beginning in PreK. Our children receive classes in Music, PE, and Art with Arabic classes starting in KG1.
Currently, the school day ends at 12:45 pm, and we have an After School Care program that runs until 3pm or 4pm depending on your family’s needs.
For the school year 2019-2020, our Early Years Program will be offered as a full school day and the After School Care program will be extended to meet the needs of all families at our school from PreK to Grade 5. We look forward to sharing more information with you as the year continues. If you have any further questions, please contact our Early Years Coordinator, Mrs. Rianne Fox email@example.com
