May 19th to May 23rd

It was a fun week in PreK! We continued to learn about simple machines, specifically levers. We identified different types of levers and explored using balances to see how levers work. On Sunday, we will attend a Simple Machines Presentation organized by the high school. The children will get to learn about different types of simple machines and explore how they work.

Next week we will continue to learn about simple machines by learning about screws. Our focus question is “How do screws hold things together?”. We will explore different types of screws, screw drivers, and common objects that act like screws.

The objectives we will focus on next week are:

  • 7a Demonstrates fine-motor strength and coordination: Uses fingers and hands
  • 7b Demonstrates fine-motor strength and coordination:Uses writing and drawing tools
  • 15a Demonstrates phonological awareness, phonics skills, and word recognition: Notices and discriminates rhymes
  • 15b Demonstrates phonological awareness, phonics skills, and word recognition: Notices and discriminates alliteration
  • 15c Demonstrates phonological awareness, phonics skills, and word recognition: Notices and discriminates discrete units of sound
  • 16a Demonstrates knowledge of the alphabet: Identifies and names letters
  • 16b Demonstrates knowledge of the alphabet: Identifies letter-sound correspondences
  • 18a Interacts during reading experiences, book conversations and text reflections

  • Lola Loves Stories
