December 4th to 6th

Our Week:

It was a short but fun week in PreK. We continued to work on our box buildings. Please join us on Thursday, December 13th for a building exhibition. The exhibition will take place from 7:30am to 8:00am on the early years playground. We hope you are able to join us!

Looking Ahead:

Next week we will take our field trip to Dig It on Monday, December 10th. If you have not done so already, please send in your child’s permission slip and 45 AED.

On Tuesday, December 11th we will have a Winter Slumber Party! Children should come to school dressed in their pajamas and bring along a stuffed animal and a blanket for the movie.  If you would like to donate some food for this event, we are asking for individual chocolate milks, popcorn (pre-popped), pizza and cookies for the whole class. Please let me know what you are bringing to avoid extra food.  This will be our second snack for the day.

Next week we will finish our unit on buildings. The objectives we will focus on for next week are:

  • 17 Demonstrates knowledge of print and its uses
    20a Counting
  • 21 Explores and describes spatial relationships and shapes: Understands spatial relationships
  • 23 Demonstrates knowledge of patterns
  • 35 Explores dance and movement

Additionally Thursday, December 13th will be a short day, with dismissal at 11:45.

November 25th to November 29th

Our Week:

This week we focused on creating our own buildings out of cardboard boxes. First, we constructed our buildings uses boxes and tape. Then the children painted the boxes. Next week we will use other materials to put the finishing touches on our buildings. In addition to creating our buildings, we worked in small groups on bookmaking. The children are learning to tell stories across pages and illustrate their ideas.

Looking Ahead:

Our focus question for next week will be “What Happens Inside Buildings”. We will focus on the the impact that neighborhood buildings have on a community as well as what happens in different buildings. We will continue to work on our building creations as well.

The objectives we will focus on our:

  • 15 Demonstrates phonological awareness, phonics skills, and word recognition
  • 20 Uses number concepts and operations: connects numerals with their quantities
  • 23 Demonstrates knowledge of patterns
  • 30 Show basic understanding of people and how they live
