It was a fun-filled week here in PreK! This week we continued to learn about animal homes by studying the different types of animals that live on a farm. We talked about barns as well as what animals live in a barn. The children also created their own barns out of paper and popsicle sticks. We read several books about farms including Mrs. Wishy-Washy’s Farm, Click Clack Moo: Cows That Type, and Barnyard Banter. As we continue our unit we will also look at animals that burrow as well as beehives and butterfly cocoons.
This week we also learned about our artist of the month, Vincent Van Gogh. We watched a short video about Vincent Van Gogh’s life and work. The children then looked at Van Gogh’s Starry Night and we talked about what we saw. We then created our own Starry Night by using a method of fingerprinting utilizing foil and pressing paper onto the foil to make a print. It was a fun process and the children enjoyed this different way of painting.
On Thursday, we also handed out the caring boxes to our lovely and dedicated support staff. The children presented the gifts to each staff member. It was a wonderful experience in giving back and showing appreciation for others.
Monday, November 27th is yellow day. Please send your child to school wearing yellow or bring a yellow item for show & tell.
We will be celebrating National Day all week with different activities each day, leading up to the school carnival on Wednesday, November 29th. Our time for the celebration is from 9:30 to 10:30. We have 3 parent volunteers, so we would really appreciate it if one more parent could volunteer.
There is no school on Thursday, November 30th or Sunday, December 3rd. School will resume on Monday, December 4th.
