It was a short but busy week here in PreK! On Sunday we continued to talk about our new unit of inquiry, homes. We started our unit off by talking about animal homes. This week. we specifically focused on creating nests. We read the non-fiction book Look Inside a Robin’s Nest. We learned that robins build nests using twigs, roots, grass, and mud. We then created our own birds and nests. On Monday, we watched the play Jack and the Beanstalk. The children had a wonderful time at the play and really enjoyed the interactive show. Tuesday was a special day here in PreK as we celebrated Ms. Thelma’s birthday. A big thank you to all the parents that contributed to Ms. Thelma’s gift. She really appreciated it. We also commemorated Diabetes Awareness Day by wearing blue and running races on the track. We learned that it is important to stay healthy and active.
Next week, we will continue to talk about animal homes by looking at different farm animals.

Two weeks ago we sent home information about the Caring Boxes. In connection with our PYP Who We Are unit, and to show how being a caring member of a community is important, the Pre-K, KG1 and KG2 teams have collaborated on an effort we are calling the Caring Box. The children will be organizing, decorating and filling boxes of a variety of items, to give to our UAS Support Staff members. This will include our bus drivers, bus monitors, cleaners, maintenance, security and a few others. This is where we need your help. We are asking that each student bring in particular items so that we may fill the boxes. We are hoping to fill eight boxes per classroom. We would like your child to go shopping with you to get the items listed on the flyer sent home today. Please send in these items by Monday, November 20th.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you and have a lovely weekend!
