All resources are posted on the blog for kids to review.
Students have been hard at work preparing for their student led conferences. For science class, I have reviewed all of their reflections. We have worked together to create individual goals. The report card comments (that will be available on Thursday April 19) reflect the goal your child as set. Feel free to ask them about why they set that goal. Your child is also prepared to share his or her strengths and goals next Wednesday at conferences. They have a lot of learning to celebrate!
We have a science exam on March 19th and 20th. This article is a nice summary of the concepts that we are studying.
Please remind your child to study a little bit each night! This exam is not multiple choice. The students will need to write the meaning of the six key vocabulary words and give examples. They will also be expected to explain the theory of evolution by Natural Selection.
Reviewing a bit each day will help keep your child from feeling overwhelmed right before the test.
This is the list of the 6 vocabulary words students will be responsible for knowing for their next assessment. Below each word are two videos that help explain the definition of the words in relation to the unit we are studying.
Parents, you can support your child by reviewing the vocabulary terms with them.
You can ask them the meaning of the words and examples.
We will have an assessment March 19th and 20th. Students will be asked to write the meaning, draw a picture and give an example of each word. The sooner they start studying the easier this will be for them.
Below is a video to support what we have been studying in class. Under the video is a link to an article we read in class.
Over the weekend, I was in the hospital with bronchitis and pneumonia. I am now out of the hospital but the doctors have recommended that I not return to work for one week. I will be checking my email, if you have any urgent requests or concerns.
I will be creating lesson plans and communicating with the substitute teacher during the week to coordinate the science lessons. I will do my best to help ensure your child’s education is not hindered in my absence.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
