This week students took a formative assessment. They did a cause and effect map of an event from earth’s history, that we have studied in class. Students were able to choose to work with a partner or by themselves.
I evaluated the work they did. Then we looked at strong student examples. Each student set a goal for themselves on how to improve the next time they do a cause and effect map.
Parents, you can support your child by asking them the following questions:
- What event did you chose for your cause and effect map? Why?
- What grade did you get on your map?
- What are you going to do to improve for the next time?
We will be having an assessment the week of October 8th. For the assessment students will be independently creating a cause and effect map from a significant event in Earth’s history. Stay tuned for more details.
I look forward to meeting you at back to school night tomorrow evening. Below is the rubric template that I will be using for your child’s assessments. I will be explaining it in full detail tomorrow night.

2017-2018 6th Grade Science Overview – Google Docs-urphzv
Hello Parents and Students,
I am so excited for the 2017-2018 school year! My name is Ms. Williams and I teach 6th grade science. I have a Masters of Science degree and this is my 11th year teaching full time. I have lived in Dubai for three years. Before moving to the UAE, my family and I lived in Shanghai, China. I am originally from Colorado in the United States.
My husband teaches 8th grade science, here at UAS. We have three young children. Xavier is 4, Ellie is 3 and Delaney is 1.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy being outdoors and spending time with my family. Here are a few pictures from our summer holiday.
I am looking forward to meeting all of you in the near future.
