Our New Unit- Biological Evolution: Unity and Diversity

The overarching concept this unit is the identification of patterns in relation to cause and effect.

We will be studying:

  • Fossil Records – existence, diversity, extinction, and changes of many life forms throughout the history of the Earth
  • Natural Selection – how it leads to the predominance of certain traits in a population, and the suppression of others
  • Adaptation – species change overtime in response to changes in environmental conditions
  • Evidence of common ancestry and diversity – comparison of embryological development of different species
