Another busy week!!!

This week we… drew, colored and decorated faces to look like US! Students selected their skin color, eye and hair color and while looking in the mirror, created what they thought they looked like. We also did many shape activities inspired by Mouse Shapes and Mouse Paint. We learned about Kandinsky, a Russian artist/painter who created art through circles, and created beautiful circle art of our own. We count every morning and are learning to recognize numbers 0-10, and create AB  patterns. For fine motor, we played with marbles, golf tees and playdough, strung beads, cut, glued and learned about lacing cards. We read Bark George, Apples, Ten Apples up on Top and repeated a few of our favorites! Thank you to those who sent in apples for our exploration… we rolled them, buried them, sliced them, peeled them and tasted them!!! We also discussed that apples look different on the outside (just like us… different colors, shapes and sizes) but on the inside we all have a heart, a brain and special qualities that are the same!

What’s next… Please return ALL library books on Sundays. We go to the library on Monday mornings and that helps us to be prepared. Swimming and Halloween information below…

SWIMMING– All KG1 classes will begin swimming next week. Please refer to your October calendar, as well as the Swimming Letter that was sent home last week, in your child’s folder. We need your child to PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE getting dressed INDEPENDENTLY, at home with you. They need to WEAR swimsuits to school, with SCHOOL UNIFORM on top. Bring towel, swim cap (mandatory) and swim shoes, inside a separate swim bag. Goggles are optional.

Please send in 30 small items (individual pencils, stickers packs, erasers, boxes of raisins , bag of pretzels, etc) by Sunday, October 22. These items will be given out when they Trick or Treat within the classrooms, and we will provide bags for all KG1 students. Please do not send in a pumpkin or container.
HALLOWEEN DRESS UP PARADE… Your child is invited to dress up in their Halloween costume on Thursday, October 26. We will have our annual Halloween parade and parents will be invited to watch as we follow the path outside that morning! More details later, but be thinking about a costume now, if you plan to participate! It’s a super fun day!!!
HALLOWEEN CENTERS... I need 2 more parents to volunteer to help out on October 31, with our Halloween Centers. Please see the attached document and let me know if you have any questions. Halloween Centers Signup
