Unit 2 Overview


  • I can add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators, including mixed numbers. (5.NF.1)
  • I can rewrite fractions so they have common denominators (5.NF.1)
  • I can multiply a whole number by a fraction, including within story problems. (5.NF.4a)
  • I can find the missing value in an equation by adding or subtracting fractions. (5.NF.1)
  • I can solve story problems where I divide whole numbers and end up with answers that are fractions and mixed numbers. (5.NF.3)
  • I can estimate the answer to a story problem. (5.NF.2)


  • I can use details from a nonfiction text to determine its main idea. (RI.5.2)

  • I can use reference materials (such as dictionaries, glossaries, thesauruses) to learn the definition and pronunciation of important words. (L.5.4c)
  • I can use underlining, quotation marks, or italics to indicate titles of works. (L.5.2d)
