Tryouts for Elementary Competitive Swim Team

Dear Parents,

We will have the first tryout for the competitive elementary swim team on Monday October 29th starting at 3:15pm. It will last until 4:20. If your child needs to take the late ASA bus home you must contact transportation and register him/her.

Any students in grade 1-5 can tryout, however swimmers from grades 1-3 must be able to swim at LEAST 25m (a full length of the pool) in a recognizable stroke. Grades 4 and 5 must be able to swim 50m. No dog paddle or under water swimming will be allowed. Swimmers may be cut after the first practice if they can’t swim the required lengths. Since we only have a 25m /6 lane pool we can only fit a max of 24 swimmers on the team. Please make sure your child is truly interested committed to the whole season.

Please note this is NOT a “learn to swim” program like we had last year on Thursdays.

Any student trying out MUST be mature and responsible. For the first tryout Ms Waldo will meet the grade 1s and bring them down to the pool. They will have to be able to dress themselves in the changeroom on their own.

Students making the team will be traveling to other schools to compete. They must be well behaved and able to follow directions.

Please go to this site and fill out this form if you are sending your child to the first practice on Monday Oct 29th.

Please note: There are 6 elementary swim meets scheduled; one in each month from November to April. All these meets are on Saturdays. Please do not sign up your child if they cannot attend Saturday meets.

Thank you for your interest,

Ms Terry and Ms Waldo
