A very warm welcome back and happy New Year to all our UAS families. We hope you had a wonderful holiday and made lots of wonderful memories. We have a very exciting term planned and we are looking forward to learning and growing together.
Students will be working on the following this upcoming week:
- Writing – Students will be working on creating their own expository text. They will finalise their table of contents and begin to write their non-fiction text about a topic of their choice. Children will need an iPad or a non-fiction book to help them with their research.
- Reading – Students will work on recognising the main idea and the supporting idea of an expository text. They will learn to summarise using boxes and bullets . They will also work on growing their own ideas from what they read.
- Math – We will continue to practice strategies for triple digit subtraction, rounding, and estimation. In number corner, we are focusing on equivalent fractions and elapsed time.
- Unit of Inquiry: We began our inquiry into engineering and solving problems through engineering solutions. Students were asked to come up with creative ways to repurpose single use plastics. Upcoming, student will inquire into the engineering design process, and eventually design a machine or prototype explaining their problem and solution.
