Ramadan Kareem!

We hope everyone has enjoyed the first few days of Ramadan and is looking forward to the weekend ahead. At school, we have been loving our schedule as it has long, uninterrupted blocks of time for teaching & learning!

Math:

Kicking off reviewing multiplication and division strategies and beginning to look at fractions in terms of fractions on a ruler,  comparing fractions, equivalent fractions and word problems involving fractions.

What are different ways to show the same fraction?

Unit of Inquiry

Kicking off inquiring into life cycles using mealworms for this inquiry. We will inquire into how animals live, grow and survive. We will then explore the life cycles of animals and the traits they inherit. In the mealworm activity, students will observe and explore the life cycle of a mealworm and record data while making these observations.  

For this experiment, we will need some unique materials. If you have any extras at home, feel free to send them to school:

Empty Plastic Bottles

Styrofoam

Oatmeal

Dirt

Any plant bearing seed

Uncooked beans

What is a life cycle?

What are different animal groups & are their life cycles different?

How are plants and animals dependent on one another?
