Week of May 9th 2019
We hope everyone has enjoyed the first few days of Ramadan and is looking forward to the weekend ahead. At school, we have been loving our schedule as it has long, uninterrupted blocks of time for teaching & learning!
We will wrap up our measurement unit with measurement number stories. Next, we will move forward with multiplication and division strategies, and equivalent fractions. Students need a “brush up” on their addition and subtraction with and without regroup.

We will be wrapping up our “Reading to Learn” unit and moving into a research unit in which students will be researching animal life cycles. They will learn how to identify good sources, and differentiate between high quality and false information online.

Unit of Inquiry
We will be wrapping up our culture unit and moving into an animal life cycles unit. Students will be inquiring into life cycles using mealworms for this inquiry.
For this experiment, we will need some unique materials. If you have any extras at home, feel free to send them to school:
Empty Plastic Bottles
Any plant bearing seed
What is a life cycle?
What are different animal groups & are their life cycles different?
How are plants and animals dependent on one another?
