Reminders

 

  • Book character dress up day and PARADE: March 7th @ 8:05 AM.
  • ***Student-led conferences on 10th and 11th March. Please book your appointments on Synergetic today!!!
  • Please note that International Day date has been moved to Saturday, March 16, 2019, from 2pm to 7pm.
  • Mark this date in your calendar! The Grade 1 and 2 Musical will be March 19th at 8h30 in the MPH. Parents and grandparents invited.
  • ASAs continue this week. This session’s ASAs will run until the end of April.

Literacy

This week in Readers’ Workshop, Becoming Experts, Reading Non-fiction:

Classwork Homework suggestion
Sunday Personalized learning with their individual reading groups. Students can practice the reading skills using RAZkids, library books, class book shopping books or other books they have at home.

Please allow your child to choose what to read as it promotes enjoyment of reading which will help them become lifelong readers.

IXL Language Arts: LL.1 & MM.1

Monday Personalized learning with their individual reading groups.
Tuesday Students will be learning strategies of recognising literary language.
Wednesday Personalized learning with their individual reading groups.
Thursday Our readers are further going understand and notice tricky language such as idioms used in books.

 

This week in Writers’ Workshop, Persuasive writing:

Classwork Homework suggestion
Sunday Students will write a small moment story about their weekend focusing on speech tags. IXL Language Arts:

Z.1 – Z.5

Monday The children understand the importance for transitional words in writing.
Tuesday Focusing on quotations and how to use them as writers.
Wednesday Rewriting the draft focusing on transition words and quotations.
Thursday Finalize and write a complete piece of persuasive writing based on the writing rubric.

Unit of Inquiry

In UOI topic “Health and Wellbeing”, this week we are focusing on our “Physical” health. The children will be finding out the various ways of keeping healthy physically. As parents you can encourage them to join your exercise routine if you have one, for them to be able to get a better understanding.
