Grade 2 Newsletter, Nov. 25 – 29

Happy Thanksgiving!

For the coming week…

  • Our National Day celebrations will take place Nov. 28th. Students will participate in painting a giant flag. After school there will be a big celebration for families from 6-11 pm. Students can dress in National dress or UAE flag colors.
  • December 2 and 3 there will be no school in celebration of UAE National Day.
  • December 13th will be a half day of school before winter break. Students will be dismissed at 12pm. Classes will begin again January 6th.
  • We are making HOLIDAY BOXES for our support staff. We ask that parents buy and send in 1 bottle of shampoo in 2KG and 2DO and 1 tube of toothpaste in 2BC. Those items will be placed in small boxes for each support staff member with a mix of other items from other grades. Thank you for your help with this.
  • December 9 – 13 will be dress up days in support of homeless pets. Students can dress up for the day and donate money for homeless animals. Each day will have a theme:
    • Scientist Sunday, dress as your favorite scientist
    • Matching Monday, dress to match a friend
    • Tiger Tuesday, dress up like a tiger
    • Wacky-hair Wednesday, come to school with a crazy hairdo
    • Theatre Thursday, wear a mask (no movie masks please)
  • The link to our art, music and PE teacher blog is here.
  • The link to our counsellor blog is here.
  • If you would like to order your child’s individual/class photos, you can visit the photographer’s website at The photographer will return sample photos soon with a website login.
  • We are looking for small cheap toys to be used for a “Novelty Store” in our new unit of inquiry. If you have small inexpensive used toys at home you are willing to part with and can send in, we would be happy to use them. (Items similar to what kids are given in loot bags at parties.) Many thanks to those of you who have contributed already.
