A few things

  • Class photos are on Wednesday, November 22. You received an envelope home. Please return it by Wednesday even if you do not wish to purchase a photograph.
  • Early childhood is setting up a small UAE Museum in the old drama room. If you have something that you would like to lend us for our display that would be great. It will be returned to you on the 29th, Please do not send anything breakable or valuable to you either monetary or sentimental. We will do our best to take care but accidents in EC can happen.
  • There will be a UAE National Day celebration on Wednesday, November 29th during the day and then after school. More info will be coming to you soon.
  • There is no school on Thursday, Nov. 30th or Sunday December 3rd in celebration of National Day.
  • I will be retesting the children on their color words this week.
  • There is an illness going around the class. Please keep your child home if they are not feeling well, even if they don’t have a fever. Maybe you can catch it early! They must be totally fever free for 24 hours before returning to school.

Thank you

Handwriting

I have sent home a laminated A3 handwriting sheet in your child’s bag. This shows how to form the letters correctly. Get your child to practice forming the letters with a marker until they can form them correctly and confidently independently. After each use just wipe it clean. This can be done daily or weekly.

Thank you

Caring boxes

Dear parents,

We are planning on giving our Caring boxes to support staff on Thursday 23rd. If you have not yet sent your items in could you please do so before Wednesday. Thank you for your support with this, it will mean a lot to show our appreciation to our support staff for all the hard work they do.

Dear parents,

KG2’s Unit of Inquiry is all about our community and the people who work together to make our community a better place. We would love the opportunity to hear from a variety of people who work in our community. If you have a job that you would be willing to help us learn more about, we would love to have you come visit us! Our unit goes all the way until late January so our times for you to join us would be flexible and we would be more than happy to work around your schedule. Depending on your preferences, you could visit us as a whole group (5 KG2 classes) do 2 sessions with just 2-3 classes at a time. You are welcome to bring a colleague to visit with us as well. If you are interested, please email me and we can sort out a time/date that works best for you

Thank you

Counting on

This week we have had great fun learning all about tens and ones! Children explored the concept of 10 working with different types of materials. Children counted on from 10 to make new numbers. They broke down numbers into their different parts using blocks, base ten and ten frames. We each chose a number and represented it 4 different ways. We will be hanging up our posters outside soon, so come check them out! 🙂
