Views from Space…..?

Did you know that Venus is the hottest planet in the solar system? You might’ve known that if you’re really interested in Astronomy and Space. OR you might’ve known hat because you went to the Sharjah Center for Astronomy and Space Sciences! Today the Grade 5 of UAS went there for a field trip. Before I went, I thought there were going to be just a bunch of mad scientists and professors that are going to tell us facts about astronomy. But I was wrong. If you look at the picture of the place, you will see a round dome at the top. This is the planetarium. We learned about constellations and the planets there.  After that very interesting video, we looked around the exhibit. There were games to play, interesting experiments set out, and more! Overall it was a really fun field trip and I learned a lot. My favorite was the planetarium because it was a really interesting video and I learned really cool facts.  If you never went there yourself, I hope you do, because as much as it sounds boring, it really is a fun place to visit.

This is how the place looked like:                   This is how the planetarium looked like:   This is how the exhibit looked like:

Exhibition Reflection!!!

Hey guys! Have you ever been through exhibition? I have, and it was really stressful! My topic was gender equality. It’s about both genders having equal rights.  We had to make our own lines of inquiry. These were mine:

1-An inquiry into how gender equality changed over the years

2-An inquiry into how gender equality affect women

3-An inquiry into how people can help to make gender equality better

I already wrote a blog about my action, which was to educate 4th graders to change their knowledge about my topic. Something hard during the actual presentation at Festival Mall, was that the first day I talked to parents, but the next day to students. It was hard to change the way I talked. We also made an art poster saying: #WeAre Equal. What my group was trying to say from that topic was that we should all be equal and not to have different rights.

This is my group and board. The big poster is our art poster.

Exhibition Action!

Right now at school, we are doing exhibition. My group’s topic is gender equality. Gender equality is both genders having equal rights. Gender inequality is both genders not having equal rights. We did our action today, which was giving a lesson to 4th graders. We also made a skit to show them an example of gender inequality. I mostly focused on how gender inequality affecting women/girls. I think this topic is important because we’re all human but people think that it’s okay to treat women/girls unfairly compared to men/boys. Also, people just doesn’t know about this topic, when in some places it’s a huge problem. Something that didn’t work was  one of our group member was absent today. And, we had a few questions for the 4th graders, but we didn’t have enough time to give them the questions at the beginning of the lesson and the end. Although there was some unfortunate things, the rest of the lesson went well and I’m proud of it.

Modern Art-Glass Garden?

When you  hear the word art, what mostly comes into your mind? What comes into my mind is old paintings and sculptures. I think that’s because paintings and sculptures are some of the famous types of art that most people have heard of. Now, painting and sculpting are really old types of art. have you ever searched modern art in google or anything else? You would get a lot of crazy brightly colored pictures but, if you type in Chihuly Garden, you will get really cool photos of things you can’t really put in words. Also, it’s really hard to believe that it is all made out of glass, except for the flowers because it’s a garden. So my favorite type of modern art is glass art because some of them looks really cool and they are beautiful. Here are some of the works of glass art in the Chihuly Garden which is in America. Can you believe that all this is made out of glass? It’s crazy!

A Theme of a book

This is a blog post for people who wants to see another example of a theme. If you read my previous post, you should know that a theme is a moral or a life lesson that is like the purpose of a book.

This book is called “Secrets” by Jacqueline Wilson and this book is about 2 girls named Treasure and India, who keeps lots of secrets. Treasure rans away from her house and India helps her. I hope you’re interested in reading this book because this book, has an amazing plot.

Now for the theme of “Secrets”. I think the theme of this book is “You are not alone” Because like I told you, Treasure rans away from her family and she misses her grandmother very much, and is lonely. But, India tries her best to help her by talking to her and playing games with her. Also, on India’s side, she is very lonely at her school, because she doesn’t have a friend. But after meeting Treasure, India doesn’t feel that lonely anymore. and that’s why I think the theme of “Secrets” is “You are not alone”.

Theme of a book

Did you know that there was a theme in every books? A theme is a word or sentence in a story which is like a moral or a life lesson, that is important in life. By the way, there can be more than 1 theme in a book. But that doesn’t mean that there will be more themes in a long book.

Today I will like to give you an example of a theme. This book is called “Justin Case, shells, smells and the horrible flip-flops of doom” written by Rachel Vail. This book is about a boy named Justin, and is a worried kid. But now that he is in summer, he thinks that there is nothing to worry about. He goes to a new summer camp, and well, you have to read the rest.

Anyway, I think the theme of this book, “Justin Case, shells, smells, and the horrible flip-flops of doom” ‘s theme is “It is okay to be who you are”. I think this is the theme of this book because there is this character named Bartholomew and to be honest, he is a very weird boy, but what I like about him is that he is always just who he is, and I love that about him. Justin, the main character of the story, he learns that he doesn’t have to pretend to be a cool kid, and to say what he wants to say.

Also, I think you should read this book because it is really interesting and has a very good life lesson or theme.

Field Trip to Green Planet!!!

never knew that there was a rainforest here in the UAE!  If you don’t believe me than visit Green Planet! There they have an amazing example of a rainforest! By the way, did you know that there are 4 different layers in a rainforest? Also that the last layer of the a rainforest never really gets sunlight so it is underwater. So basically there are fish there. My favorite part about the field trip was watching the sloth and what I didn’t enjoy was that the parrot kept interrupting the guide, so it was pretty annoying. Sadly, I don’t have the picture of the sloth, but I do have a picture of the interrupting parrot.

In conclusion, I think you should visit Green Planet so that you can learn interesting things about rainforests and see all sorts of animals.

Art Reflection

Hi! last month, in art class, we did this project called an accordion picture book about an explorer that we researched about last month as well. An accordion picture book is when you write a book with barley no words in it, [mostly pictures], and make like an accordion. It will only turn out as 1 by the book being able to fold it like an accordion. So last month, we presented it to a 3rd grade class, and to be honest, i didn’t really enjoy it because I don’t like presenting and I am bad at art. Here are some photos.

So yah, that’s me. And I hope that I can grab some time to type posts more often!
