Pink Day – Thursday 19th October

Hi everyone,

On Thursday, all UAS students can wear PINK to support Breast Cancer!

There will be a Walk-a-Thon on Thursday morning! If your child does not have pink, encourage them to be creative to wear something pink on them. I will give lots of ideas in the classroom too. Let’s support Breast Cancer!

Sunday 8th October

Hello and welcome to a new week. Your child has already been given their homework pack for this week. I have explained everything to the whole class, but just for your convenience ( as I know some of the kids tune out when I start talking) here is an explanation of some of the things.

Spellings:

Today the student did their first spelling test and I have stapled their results into the back of their pink Homework books for you to see. Most students got 10 out of 10 which was fabulous. The next 10 words will be from the same list as last week- and the new set of words should be highlighted on the paper. Miss Ever . – our TA did this for all the students who handed in their folders. Some students admitted they have ‘lost’ their homework. If you could keep this paper safe as we are going to learn all of these words in G2.

100 Book Challenge

I explained this to you in BTSN last Monday, but for those of you unable to make it….its a visual record of your child reading books at home. The Reading Log that your child brought hoe last week, is optional. Use it as you wish – if its too much effort then don’t use it.

Your child should colour one square for each book he/she reads at home. This can be a home reader, library book, Raz-Kids etc. I will also let the students bring home one home reader per night too from their in class book shopping 🙂

See How I Grew Posters

If your child has finished it, then send it in for him/her to present. Today we celebrated 3 students who have completed them and it was so lovely to see the way they have changed since they were babies. If you can add photos this is wonderful, but some students are saying their parents don’t have any photos – in this case maybe your child can draw something they remember instead.

Artefacts

A letter about artefacts will come home tomorrow, so look out for that.

Specialist – Music

The students have now changed to Music for the next 4 weeks – Miss Heather Worling is their awesome music teachers

I think thats about all for now 🙂 Wishing you a great week ahead….

Thursday 5th October

Hi everyone,

Another week has passed and it’s been a busy one. Zayn finished up as Star of the Week, and Nabala was appointed to be our second SOTW!! Congratulations to her 🙂 She will take Benny home for the weekend and I hope her and her family have a wonderful time.

The spelling test (just the first 10 words of the Grade 2 words) will be tested on Sunday. Also please ask your child to pack their own school bag, including water bottle (it’s far too hot to leave it at home), their library books ready to change on Sunday and their homework folder, including their pink homework book. I will quickly mark it then get it back home to you on Sunday.

Raz kids passwords have already been given to you child so they can log in this weekend. It is my understanding that any previously read books from G1, will not show in your child’s reading history.I apologize for this, but it is beyond my control.

I wish you all a wonderful weekend filled with lots of special family time.

Miss K 🙂
